Every few weeks, I’ll be shining a light on one of the amazing makers from inside the Thriver Circle – and today, we’re kicking off with the wonderful Tania Laskowski of Fit To Be Tyed!
Tania and her husband started their business in February 2024.
Why?
Tania says:
“I couldn’t stay in the corporate world anymore. The Sunday Scary’s were a weekly occurrence and it was killing my soul.”
Instead, they turned in a new direction…
“We upcycle and hand dye clothing and home goods in a tie dye style.
We provide eco friendly items our customers can feel good about wearing and displaying.
We are also very size inclusive in our offerings.
My hubby got bored during Covid and 3 years later, I burned out at my corporate job, so I turned it into a business and now I enjoy creating as much as he does!“
She learned how to tie dye and fell in love with it!
In the last year, Tania has created both an Etsy store, and her own website.
She’s also developed an inventory system, a production system and a finishing system.
When I asked her what she found most useful or enjoyed the most about her time in the Thriver Circle, she said…
“How long do you have?!
I (also) loved Set Up Shop and I’m still working through lessons as I need them.
The camaraderie and ability to query the group is awesome!”
Her biggest piece of advice for other makers in business?
“Don’t quit.
The only way you fail is by quitting.
Seriously. Believe in yourself and you will accomplish your dream.
And you weren’t kidding Jess, when you said it’s a marathon, not a sprint!
Give yourself grace when you need it.”
A few fun facts about Tania
- Tania and her husband were paranormal investigators.
- She is a first generation American as her parents emigrated from Germany in 1956.
- She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant. Her previous career was as an Accounting Manager.
